72Are you one of the millions of people that are obsessed with weight watching? It seems to me that the world has gone weight watching mad! Losing weight seems to be a full time job for many people. We not only watch our weight but we watch other people as their weight goes up and goes down. It seems like a never ending battle. But there are those that take weight watching to the extreme and lose way too much weight for their body to function properly.
Everywhere you turn there is a story about Jessica Simpson putting on weight. On the other side, there are stars accused of being anorexic. The latest stars to be scrutinized for being scary skinny are Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson, Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie (of course!), Heidi Montag, Katrina Bowden and Keira Knightly. Other stars mentioned are Rachel McAdams, Rachel Zoe, Victoria Beckham and Julianne Moore.
In between the obese and the anorexic is where we find most of us. We watch our and others weight go up and watch it go down. Why are we so obsessed with weight? I believe it is because most people think if they could change this one thing in their life, they would be happier. Weight is the easiest change for us to consider. So what is our main goal in losing weight? It appears our underlying goal may be to be happier than we presently are. We may think, if only I could take off ____ (you fill in the blank) pounds, I would feel better and be much happier.
Being healthy should be your primary reason for losing weight. Without our health, we cannot enjoy much of anything. Ask anyone having health issues and you will probably find someone that would be willing to give up wealth and possessions just to feel better. We need to take our health seriously. Many times we can ward off illnesses such as health disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and many cancers if we maintain a reasonable weight for our body type. If you are in the 10, 20, 30, 40 or more pounds overweight, you need to seriously make a decision to care for your body. If we don’t, your body has a way of talking back to you.
If you encounter problems such as high blood pressure, poor digestion, shortness of breath to name a few, you need to take seriously what your body is telling you. Our bodies are an amazing machine and will try to compensate as best it can but there comes a time when our organs and systems start to break down. This is a time when you will say to yourself, why didn’t I lose some weight before all these health problems started?
Today is a new day! You don’t have to wait until the New Year to make a resolution to yourself. Make your decision and resolve to take better care of yourself. Most changes that we make in our life begin with one thing….a decision.
This is the part that the weight loss industry forgets about. A decision. This is why most weight loss programs do not work. They give you programs and menus to follow that treat the symptom of your problem not the problem itself. What was missing was the power of the mind. This finally made sense to me when I found a new book by Bob Proctor called “The Science of Perfect Weight”.
In this book, Bob Proctor teaches a new way of thinking, eating and living to achieve your Perfect Weight. You see, your Perfect Weight is not my Perfect Weight. We were all made differently. You need to find what your Perfect Weight is for the body that you have. We are individuals and that is why your body has its own Perfect Weight.
Once I learned this concept, I finally found the piece to the puzzle that I have been looking for. For many years, I was unable to take off the pounds that I knew I should for my body to work better. If there was a program, a gadget or book out there, I bought it. But nothing seemed to work until I finally learned “The Secret” as Bob teaches in the book. The true key to achieving your Perfect Weight is in your mind. It is how you think about yourself that matters most.
